Avalon Hotel

Toin mieheni tänne pitkäksi viikonlopuksi ja täällä oli upeaa. Meillä oli perushuone, joka oli kauniisti sisustettu boutique-tyyliin. Huoneessa oli lisämukavuuksia, kuten kylpytakit, tohvelit, Bulgarin saippua sekä mineraalivettä ja suklaata talon puolesta. Hotellista ei puutu mitään, hintaan kuuluu myös langaton internetyhteys. Aamiainen kuului meillä huoneen hintaan ja se oli upea: kaikkea mahdollista ruotsalaisista lihapullista makkaraan, leivonnaisiin ja tuoreisiin hedelmiin. Söimme runsaan aamiaisen, sillä Göteborg on suhteellisen kallis kaupunki syödä ulkona. Hotellin keskeinen sijainti on ihanteellinen, kävelymatkan päässä ostosmahdollisuuksista ja ruoka- ja juomapaikoista. Myös bussi- tai junalipun voi ostaa, niillä pääsee kauemmaksikin, noin kymmenellä eurolla per päivä.

From booking through check-in, staying and check-out everything works perfect - smooth, personal and with top level of service. I have stayd at Avalon several times and have no intentions to change hotel when in Göteborg (I have tried many hotels in Göteborg)

Avalon is a lovely hotel right in the centre of Gothenburg. Rooms and facilities have a high standard, and the hotel is located bang in the middle of the city with almost everything within walking distance. The hotel employees are friendly, attentive and offer great service. The rooms are clean, modern and well isolated from any noise from surrounding streets. The breakfast buffet is not as big as the ones you see on the big brand hotels like Scandic, Radisson etc, but it is of high quality and has everything you need. We didn't miss anything. The bar is a lovely place to spend the late evening after a dinner in one of the citys restaurants - the outside serving area has a cozy atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the view of the city life at Kungstorget plaza and surrounding streets. Try some salted almonds with your beer - super tasty! If you arrive by car, be sure to pay the extra charge for the parking service. This saves you the hassle of trying to find a parking garage within reasonable distance, often with confusing pricing rates. The parking service is a predictable and very convenient alternative. The hotel staff even packed our bags in the car together with two bottles of chilled sparkling water for us when they handed us the car for our departure. Well worth the money! We will definitely choose Avalon Hotel again for our next stay in Gothenburg!

Stranded by the air traffic control issue, the three nights at The Avalon were a great relief. Amazing breakfast, great to relax in the rooftop pool (shame it wasn’t open longer hours). Friendly attentive staff. Can’t fault.

I’ve stayed here twice now, each time in July for about 6 days, in one of the bigger rooms. Last time was July 2023. It is one of the more expensive hotels near the centre but worth it in my opinion. Rooms are lovely, beds are comfortable, and it is very clean. Lots of impressive design touches everywhere. Small pool on the roof with great views. On the rare occasions it is hot the pool gets very crowded, but don’t worry, that won’t happen too often! Convenient location too, with excellent public transport links. Breakfast was very good, but the biggest negative is you can’t get a proper coffee at breakfast. They have a decent barista machine and will happily sell you excellent coffee from lunchtime onwards, but there is always some ridiculous excuse (rarely believable) why you can’t have it for breakfast. They have two self serve machines, but the small one that makes reasonable espresso is usually out of service and the larger machine dispenses undrinkable sludge. By the end of my 2nd stay I was properly annoyed about this, and I’m not even that bothered about coffee. If breakfast coffee is important to you then perhaps choose somewhere else.
